5 things to remember when shopping with a defined budget and limited time…

I recently heard from a FB friend regarding planning a purposeful shopping trip. This friend mentioned that they have a specific budget and only a couple of hours to use spending it. I offered the following tips to create a successful shopping experience!
1.     Define your purpose for shopping. What do you hope to purchase? When you have focus before taking action, you are more likely to be successful. Create a list of items that you need and list of wants. Once you find your needs, you can then move on to your wants (time permitting).
2.     Quickly assess the stores near you. If your budget is $200 and your local stores have prices which begin at $75 per item; this is probably not the store for you given your budget. When assessing, also make sure the store carries the type of clothing you need.  Do not go to the hot trendy spot if you need foundation/staple pieces for your wardrobe.
3.     Try to determine the styles and colors that are most flattering for your shape prior to shopping. This is HUGE time saver. You should style try things when shopping to confirm a good fit. Knowing what looks good on you, will reduce the number of things to try and reduce the level of frustration resulting from trying on things that are not right for your shape.
4.    Remember quality is most important. Just because something is on sale does not mean it is a must buy piece. You want items that fit, are flattering and made to be worn several times.  If you have to pay an extra few dollars to achieve these things, it is okay. You will recoup your investment with the number of times you are able to wear the clothing.
5.     If you can, take an honest friend…lol. Seriously, take someone with you who will honestly tell you when something looks fabulous or not.
